Introduction to Oil Painting

If you like to paint, or want to try something new, this class is for you! We will have the supplies and a prepped 9 x 12 canvas ready to do an oil painting of a rooster or a landscape of hills, so you can start right in painting. Or you can bring your own canvas and supplies for painting in oil or acrylics, as well as your own subject matter, and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded friends.

You are welcome to bring a painting you are working on and want advice from the class. If you have been working on a painting that you started during Campmeeting last year and want to share how it turned out, we would love to see it! Also bring clothes to paint in. We have some table easels, but if you like to work standing at an easel, you will want to bring your own.

Cheryl Des Jarlais

My name is Cheryl Des Jarlais. I am retired, though I still write and teach Early Childhood Education courses for Southern Adventist University part time. I like painting large pieces such as murals using acrylics and house paints and have painted seven of them just for our church and school in Ronan! But as I’ve explored oil painting, I have come to love the workability and look of this classic medium.
