Editorial: FREEDOM or BONDAGE?
Carla Lefebvre, Communications Coordinator Montana Conference
What makes you think and act the way you do?? Have you ever tried really hard to break free of something, but just couldn’t? I want to share something with you that has changed my life.
Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” In essence what He said is that:
TRUTH = FREEDOM
LIES = BONDAGE (sin)
I want truth and freedom—what about you? Bondage (dysfunctional ways of thinking and acting) doesn't just happen because you wake up one morning and out the clear blue decide to commit a sin. Rather, the misbeliefs that are engraved into our conscious or subconscious thinking drive us to do the things we do.
Look at the first sin on Planet Earth (Genesis 3:1-7): if you look carefully, you can find at least half a dozen lies told by the serpent to Eve. She believed the lies (at least partially) and the bait was fatal. First the LIE, then the FALL (in that order!).
For many years, I believed a lot of lies that kept me in bondage. But gradually God has been breaking those bonds by infusing the truth about Him and about myself into my heart, displacing the lies that were so deeply entrenched. This is a POWERFUL, life-changing experience.
Would you like to join me on this journey to experiencing true freedom and healing?
