2026 Q1
Meet a Pastor: Jason Johnson

Jason Johnson, Pastor of Roundup and Lewistown SDA Churches

I am the pastor in the Lewistown and Roundup Church district as well as the co-director of Camp Paxson (the summer camp) here in Montana. It has been almost 4 years now since my wife Ashley, our three kids, Jessica (15), Andrew (9), Audrey (5) and I moved to the great state of Montana, and we love it here!

I have not always been a pastor. Before answering God’s call to ministry, I spent 8 years running from it. In that time, I spent a week and a half as a computer animation major at Southern Adventist University.

After dropping out of SAU, I found a job framing houses for a little over a year in Collegedale, Tennessee. Then I decide to get back into the family business as an electrician in the Detroit area of Michigan where I grew up.

In the middle of the 8 years of "running," my wife Ashely and I were married and shortly later moved to Northern Michigan where she began teaching. While continuing working as an electrician I found myself spending my time off helping Ashley in whatever way I could with her school. It was through this that God’s call to ministry became stronger.

As this call continued to get stronger and stronger, I could no longer push it aside, and one day I finally said to God, “Ok, You open the doors and I will follow wherever You lead!”

Well, all I can say is He has been opening doors ever since. And I have never regretted walking through each one. Through the support of many people, I ended up studying and receiving a BA in Religion from Andrews University in 2015.

My first call came a year later in 2016, where I pastored in the Mountain View Conference, West Virginia, in 2 church districts and served as the summer camp director over 6 years. Then in 2022 we received our call to Montana, and we are so grateful that God called us here.

Everywhere we have been, our mission is to make friendships and through these friendships, we hope to help each other know and grow closer to Jesus. We are so grateful to all the friends we have made here and hope to make even more over the many years of ministry we hope to have here in the Montana Conference.

Thank you for helping us make this our home!
