Who?
Who is required to do the Sterling program?
The Sterling training and background check process is required of all MTC employees as well as volunteers and church officers who are in any type of contact with children/youth, which includes:

School volunteers/drivers

Club ministries leaders and assistants
-
Elders
-
Deacons/deaconesses
-
Greeters
-
Personnel of social committees and children’s ministries.
What?
What is Sterling Volunteers and why is it important?
The world is becoming increasingly dangerous for our children and youth. It’s our responsibility as churches and schools to do all we can to mitigate any potential risks to their safety and well-being.
This is why the SDA church provides regular child protection training and conducts background checks for employees and volunteers. This program is run through Sterling Volunteers (through Adventist Risk Management, ARM).
Its aim is to educate adults in responsible positions about the dangers and risks facing the children of today, as well as to ensure that these adults are safe to help guide and assist children / youth.
